Recently Facebook announced a new messenger app for kids called “messenger kids”. As the name suggests, this app is for kids under age 13. This app can be used by kids in the age group 6-13 years. This messenger doesn’t require a facebook account- due to federal laws, kids below age 13 cannot legally sign up for a facebook account.

To use this app, parents should download it from the App store and authenticate with their account using their username and password. Only then can an account be created for a child, with the process requiring only a name for the profile.
Parents can monitor kid’s account from their facebook account. So now parents will have more control over kid’s behavior on the internet. It is clear that Facebook is really trying to reduce age limit for their product usage.
“There are no ads in Messenger Kids and your child’s information isn’t used for ads. It is free to download and there are no in-app purchases,” says Facebook.
Messenger Kids is primarily designed to offer video and text chat along with the types of playful masks and filters, originally popularized by Snapchat, that are now prevalent across Facebook’s many messaging products.
This is available for some IOS users and will be released globally in near future.
