Frightening news for Instagram users. The recent Instagram update enables a new feature that no one asked for. Instagram has now enabled activity status in direct messages. This means now all your friends can see your last seen status. isn’t this horrible?
This feature is rolled out recently for both Android and IOS devices. So, this last active feature is available to all your friends.
This last active status is can only be seen in direct messages tab. Last active status is available right below the username in Direct messages tab. Here is how it looks:
Disable Last seen Status
However, this is not as scary as it sounds. Just like all other Facebook-owned messaging apps, this one also has an option to disable last seen.
- Open app and Head over to settings
- Scroll down until you find this option “Show Activity Status“
- Turn it off.
That’s it. Now no one will be able to track your last active status. However, by doing this you’ll no longer be able to see others activity status too, similar to other messaging apps.
Now, all the Facebook-owned messaging apps have this feature (Messenger, WhatsApp, Instagram). Twitterati obviously was not happy about this and here’s how users reacted to this:
